Night Magic – Excerpts
Excerpt from Night Magic by Kathleen Ann Gallagher
A woman can sense when a man is about to make a move. A rippling feeling waved across her chest. With his eyes glued on her, he stood and came from around his desk, like a panther going for his prey. When he got close enough for her to get a whiff of his tempting, sensual cologne, a warm sensation caught her off guard and her ears rang so bad her head spun.
Before she realized what had happened, he slipped his hand around her back and pulled her up against his chest. Tunnel vision altered all perception of reality and she closed her eyes. Jon’s touch aroused her mercifully. Her panties moistened and her nipples tingled, as if she had entered a place where she belonged. His strong hands cupped her butt cheeks as if he owned her body and soul. There wasn’t time to react.
His caress filled her spirit with longing. When he placed his lips on hers, it didn’t matter if they were strangers. It felt right. A quiet echo and a brightness filled the room as if the goddess of love shined light upon them. The connection felt so strong it practically knocked her over.
Steadying herself, she stood back and stared into his eyes. As Jon moved in again and plunged his tongue reached deep into her mouth, he lightly brushed his hand across the back of her hair, and she surrendered to his touch. It was as if a long lost lover had reappeared and claimed her heart’s desire. There was no telling what might happen next. Her whole body relaxed as he nuzzled her ear, teasing her with playful nips at her neck. All rules had been broken, but it didn’t matter. His hard shaft rubbed up against her stomach, and she swayed back and forth, unable to break away from temptation. His breathing sped up and with his strong arms tight around her back, and she quietly moaned, lost in another world. Every movement taking her one step closer. Am I that lonely? I’m about to have sex with a man I just met. As his hand trailed across her back, her body rocked with his.
Each touch electrifying as if he wanted to devour her, and she found herself in a trance-like state. Is this what I’ve been missing? Running her hand across his firm bicep, she felt woozy. The warmth of his body raising her level of arousal. Here in the middle of an office, she experienced a passion like no other, and everything seemed right. Lust took control of her senses, and she let herself go with it. With each kiss he brought cradled her in his arms, his embrace warm and protective like a warrior of love. How did this happen? Had she found the man she was destined for or was it all a dream?
Jon pulled back and let her go. Intoxicated by the sweet smell of her perfume and the softness of her lips, he turned his head to listen closely. Annoyed by the disturbance, he rubbed the back of his neck, disappointed and frustrated, moments before lost in the sweetness of Krista’s embrace.
“What is it?” She asked as she straightened her clothes.
“I heard something drop. I’m sorry to do this to you, but I’ll be right back.” A tightness began in is throat and traveled to his gut. I knew it was too good to be true. Not again. The clatter was all too familiar. Every time he got close to a woman the same thing happened. This time he had enough. He didn’t care if he had to go to extremes and hire an exorcist, get a priest or find someone who knew the answer. Years of hiding from the world due to his mother had worn him down. Sleepless nights led to a stomach ulcer and had forced him to change his diet. An Italian without garlic was unheard of. A man his age needed a partner. He wanted someone to share his life with, but how was he supposed to explain the curse that had ruined his life. His mother lived on in limbo, unable to cross over to the other side, due to a feud with an evil witch years ago. Now, he lived in isolation, hiding from the truth, too afraid to ruin his reputation. With each step down his frustration fueling his anger. He burst into a room in the back of the house.
His mother sat on a corner window box, filled with velvet pillows, staring out to the yard. Her once rosy complexion pale, with her once robust figure nothing but skin and bones. An over-sized white dress didn’t hide what had happened to her three years ago when she died. The curse placed on her by a black witch years ago left its mark on her beautiful soul. “How did you know I had company? Did you have your ear up against the door?” He hovered over her.
